Hill Law attorney Dennis Murphy drafted an amicus brief in a case pending before the state’s highest court, challenging the legality of the City of Boston’s attempts to convert Franklin Park’s White Stadium into a professional soccer venue.  The amicus (“friend of the court”) brief,  which you can see here, was filed on behalf of Alternatives for Community & Environment, Inc. (ACE) and a consortium of community groups members of the Environmental Justice Assistance Network, including the Boston Branch of the NAACP, the Roxbury Neighborhood Council, and the Boston Blueprint for Justice in Community  Bengals Pop Warner Football and Cheer Program. These groups oppose Mayor Wu’s plan for many reasons, but at the core is their objection to the City’s trampling of a community treasure without looking at environmental justice impacts on the neighborhoods of Jamaica Plain, Roxbury and Dorchester.  The brief was filed in support of the plaintiff/appellant in Emerald Necklace Conservancy et al v. City of Boston et al., which was heard by the SJC on April 8, 2026.  A decision is expected soon.
